Future Libraries

Earlier this month, Arup released the Future Libraries Report. It’s available at http://publications.arup.com/Publications/F/Future_Libraries.aspx

If you haven’t already it’s well worth the read.

It highlights some of the fantastic things on the horizon (if not already here) like; maker spaces, 3D printers, crowdsourced projects, tech/education programs…basically heaps of very cool stuff.

The report also got me thinking about change. There’s one phrase that is repeated in the report:

“Libraries will”

This ‘will’ can only happen if we as professionals and an industry continue to embrace and act upon change. It’s all super exciting but we have to continually evolve and change to realise this or any other rendition of the library future.

P.S It’s all awesome!!
